Advancing with gender inclusion strategies in Mexican SGBs in the agriculture sector

This learning space has been created within the framework of the “Gender inclusion within agriculture-based small and growing businesses (SGBs) in Mexico” project, which aim at creating benchmarks for gender inclusion within agriculture based SGBs in Mexico, and use them to influence gender inclusion practices in the long-term.

In the working meeting held on January 17th, 2018, the research team presented the areas of diagnosis and strategy development to different organizations of the ecosystem generating lively discussions the interest of continuing with this reflections and the possibility of having a virtual space for knowledge exchange over the following and other questions::

1. Can differences in power relations, decision making and levels of self-confidence be included in the diagnostic areas? Implications and benefits of doing so.

2. What are incentives for SGBs to implement inclusion strategies?

3. What incentives do SGBs have to buy from female producers over their male counterparts?

4. Which incentives should the entrepreneurial ecosystem actors provide for SGBs to take inclusion as a good practice in business management?

5. How could the entrepreneurial ecosystem (Corporates, NGOs, Financial Institutions, Government. etc.) be involved in order to encourage the use of the gender gap tool?
