Sofía Martínez Fernández

As Senior Communications Lead, Sofía supports the launch of the Inclusive Action Hub and helps shape the long-term institutional communications strategy for Value for Women. She is a Senior Social Impact Consultant originally from Madrid, with a decade of experience spanning NGOs, think tanks, media, and the private sector. She began her career as a journalist in Spain before taking on communications and external engagement roles with organisations in the development and humanitarian sectors, including Crisis Group, The HALO Trust, and Development Initiatives. She has also advised Fortune 500 companies on social and environmental risks as part of a boutique consultancy in London. Recently, Sofía has shifted her focus to social impact, specialising in strategic communications to help organisations enhance their visibility, engage decision-makers, and secure critical funding. Her career has taken her across three continents, including several years living and working in Guatemala, where she researched and advocated for the leadership of women as peacebuilders and decision-makers. Her insights on gender, forced migration, and socio-economic challenges in Latin America have been featured in major outlets, including the BBC, The Guardian, and The Atlantic.

Sofía holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the London School of Economics (LSE) and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and Film Studies from Universidad Carlos III in Spain. She is deeply passionate about empowering women and girls in fragile and emerging markets and fostering private-sector partnerships to drive social change. Sofía is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian."
